R.I.P. Pimp C

PIMP C Found Dead

RIP...my bestfriend called me today freaking out about pimpc...shes so gangsta!!!

Billboard.com-"UGK rapper Pimp C was found dead this morning (Dec. 4) in his room at the Mondrian Hotel on Los Angeles' Sunset Strip. He was 33. Police found the rapper, whose real name was Chad Butler, dead in his bed after responding to a 911 call.

UGK's publicist at Jive Records confirmed Pimp C's death to Billboard.com and said a statement will be issued soon.

In August, UGK released "Underground Kingz," its first studio album in five years. The set, which spawned the popular single "Intl' Players Anthem" featuring OutKast, debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200, a first for the group.

UGK, which also features rapper Bun B, was derailed in 2002 when Pimp C was sentenced to eight years in prison on an assault charge. He was released on Dec. 30, 2005, at which point he quickly began working on new music.

His 2006 solo album, "Pimpalation" reached No. 3 on The Billboard 200. But it was understood that his stint in jail affected the artist's mental and physical health dramatically, to the point where he was unable to promote "Underground Kingz" in a meaningful way.

Pimp C had performed in Los Angeles Saturday night with labelmate Too Short."

Get Dino Lee back on MTV

Please go to this website and make your vote!!!! We need to help him take austin back and get back on MTV for New Years Eve 2008!!!

Oh my god according to Slashfilm.com

Marcus Nispel to Direct Friday The 13th Remake:

"Michael Bay can’t leave the old classic horror movies alone. First he remade Texas Chainsaw Massacre with a music video director at helm, then the not so good Amityville Horror remake, like most people, I’m still trying to forget the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel, and The Hitcher was forgettable at best. I’m not a purist. I believe that old classic movies should be remade for modern audiences. But if you’re going to do it, you need to do it right. And more times than most, it isn’t.

Today Shock is reporting that Bay has hired Marcus Nispel to direct a revamp of Friday The 13th. Nispel directed the aforementioned Texas Chainsaw remake (which is the only film on the above list that I actually enjoyed. However, Nispel was also the one behind that god awful Pathfinder film. Maybe he just lacked a good producer?

The screenplay was written by Freddy vs. Jason scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. The studio apparently went through another attempt before finalizing this latest draft.

But is Friday the 13th worth remaking? While the 1980 film is probably the most successful slasher of all time, it lacks the iconic character of Jason. If you remember, the first Friday the 13th film actually followed Jason’s mother Mrs. Voorhees as the killer. I’m sure it makes more sense to do a total revamp with the hockey masked killer as the antagonist."

Those Damn Highschool Kids and shit!

So lastnight me and my baby took my son to the Haunted House at CTC. Yeah the line was like 2 hours long but I was very impressed with the Haunted HOuse. It was awesome. I really didnt know what to expect but was very pleased. The only thing sucked was all the damn Highschool kids.

CTC's Fright Light show was cool..worth the price!

Sometimes I wish I paid a lil more attention in my 8th grade english class, this way maybe I would have more patience to actually write and describe these things!

Baby when are we gonna go see this movie? And Lars and the real girl? My birthday is coming up. :)

Damn I just ate a shit load of cake..and now I feel like...ugh..it sucks...but damn it was good!

Oh and maybe this year we can make it to:
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Pizza Party!

TURTLE POWER!! THE ORIGINAL TMNT MOVIE!!

The world's most beloved reptiles are in full effect in the greatest '80s movie of the '90s! Four ordinary turtles are exposed to The Ooze (a.k.a. toxic waste!) and, with the help of enormous Buddhist rat Master Splinter, grow into an unstoppable force of martial arts justice! When Splinter is kidnapped by his loathsome nemesis The Shredder, the turtles enlist the aid of TV reporter April O'Neil and wise-cracking vigilante maniac Casey Jones to rescue their number one rodent from the venomous karate clan. And you'd better believe that Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo and Raphael are ready to kick as much shell as necessary in the process.

Easily the most pulse-pounding film ever made about sewer-dwelling mutants, TMNT wowed kids of all nations. But it also taught them a very important lesson; to respect nature's perfect food: PIZZA!! So, in true radical ninja party fashion, the Alamo Drafthouse is pleased to present ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT PIZZA at both screenings! So bring your little dudes, do a flying roundhouse into your seats and chow down! COWABUNGA!!!

Come dressed as your favorite character and compete in the Ninja Turtle costume contest!

Nick "Diamonds" Thoburn of The Islands, Juiced Elfers & The Islands

Juiced Elfers & The Islands
The Islands (myspace page)

The Juiced Efers:

The Islands:

The Unicorns:

So today while doing my random music search, I came across this page:
Bibabidi.Com-Juiced Elfers
Well the first two lines caught my attentions. "Holy Moley! How did this one pass under my radar!? Apparently Nick "Diamonds" Thorburn and Jamie "J'aime Tambour" Thompson (uh ... Islands ... uh ... the Unicorns) have re-united to form Juiced Elfers. Weird name, yes, but killer tunes."

So now I am on the Hunt to find out more about the Juiced Elfers. My girl introduced me to the Unicorns after they had already broken up and their music is so awesome!

Albums:
The Unicorns:Who will cut our hair when we're gone? (2003)

Album Review: "Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone?” features thirteen tracks deeply rooted in careful songwriting and lo-fi pop experimentalism that scream “FRESH”, “INCOMPARABLE”, “AHEAD OF ITS TIME”, “HAUNTING” “CHARMING” “SEXY”, “FUNNY” and “FUCKING BRILLIANT”

The Unicorns: 2014 (2004)

4 tracks only

The Unicorns: Unicorns are People too

The Islands: REturn to the Sea (2006)

Album Review:
"Hailing from Montreal, Islands is a 7 piece band founded by former Unicorns front man Nick Diamonds and drummer J'Aime Tambeur. Following the untimely disbandment of The Unicorns as they teetered on the brink of breaking through, Islands' debut release entitled Return to the Sea, with its quirky sounds and refreshing, catchy melodies includes collaborations with members of Arcade Fire and Wolf Parade and is arguably Diamonds' and Tambeur's most impressive work to date. This highly anticipated debut picks up where The Unicorns left off and takes the music to new heights without departing from The Unicorns' unique if sometimes peculiar appeal. Return to the Sea is destined to become one of the most acclaimed and favorite albums of 2006"

So according to the The Brooklyn Vegan ""Nicholas Thorburn (born November 27, 1981) is a Canadian musician who has fronted The Unicorns, Th' Corn Gangg, and Islands. His stage name was Nick Diamonds, but he recently reverted to his birth name."

His newest project is called Juiced Elfers, and the only other thing I can tell you about it is that they're playing Mercury Lounge in NYC on Thursday August 23rd @ 7pm - right before a Metric-side project (no advanced tix). I can also tell you that his other band Islands have new recordS in the works, and are confirmed to play CMJ."

My Rant about Minimum Wage and living paycheck to paycheck, and a lil about Amy Winehouse busted for Marijuana

Living Paycheck to Paycheck Gets Harder

I was reading this and man this sounds like my life. The sad part is that it seems like my paycheck is gone before I even get it..well actually it is if I think about it. Once I go into overdraft to keep my power from getting disconnected. I would rather pay the $25.00 overdraft fee than go with out lights. Plus the $25.00 overdraft fee is cheaper then paying reconnection and disconnection charges wich can run from $10-300 depending on the territory you live in. I am constantly having to set up payment arrangements on everything in order to keep everything copesetic. I am going into overdraft trying to keep my payment arrangements. YOu could easily get a payday loan...but damn the interest and fees will rape you in the ass if you dont pay it back right away.

The solution to this would be to get a better paying job. Unfortunatley, I am with out a car right now...and the job I have now is in town, my son goes to school about a 30 minute walk away..I feel kinda stuck. Any decent job in this area you would need a car at least to go to, I have qualifications damn it..but I dont even bother looking. I would rather walk and take care of my son and myself. At least I dont have to pay a car payment and for gas. I guess I am saving at least $500.00 by not having to pay for that. Thank goodness cause as it is, I am making about $1006.00. I really dont even know if that is before or after taxes.

Its sad when you have to rely on your income tax credit to come around to pay for the things you need to get your head above the water of the flooding bills and debt that surrounds myself.

Its funny when you have to choose what bills are more important to pay...hmmm..the $15,000 to the repossesed mustang from back in my irresponsible days or pay my rent. Rent wins everytime. Ive never been the type to save my bills phone numbers in my cell phone before but damn I have my banks automated phone # on my speed dial. I have my electric company saved in my phone. Thank goodness Cingular has their customer service # programmed in their phone.

The funny thing that I was reading the other day in my latest issue of readers digest. So we have this thing called Congress right, aren't they supposed to be here to help us? Well how can they understand what we are going through when they have not a clue about living paycheck to paycheck. First of all, it had been years since minimum wage was increased, and what kindof increase is this that we had, a dollar? Not even that, I googled the Federal Minimum wage chart and check this out. Federal Minimum Wage Increase for 2007

Minimum wage only increased to $5.85, shit that is pretty close to one gallon of gas and a pack of gum.
Increases set by the Federal Government:
July 24, 2007 $5.85
July 24, 2008 $6.55
July 24, 2009 $7.25

Here is their explanation of their shitty raise:
"Such wages are referred to as "commensurate wage rates" and is based on the worker's individual productivity, no matter how limited, in proportion to the wage and productivity of experienced workers who do not have disabilities that impact their productivity when performing essentially the same type, quality, and quantity of work in the geographic area from which the labor force of the community is drawn. "

Thank god there are some people that realize that this is one crappy kind of a raise:
Minimum wage $9.50? Democrats say maybe

By Chris Zappone, CNNMoney.com staff writer
July 27 2007: 3:19 PM EDT

"NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Just days after the first increase in the minimum wage in 10 years, Democrats on Capitol Hill led by Sen. Edward Kennedy are discussing a further increase to $9.50 an hour.

Kennedy (D-Mass.), one of the original sponsors of the recently enacted minimum wage hike, announced this week his intention to propose legislation for a new increase, Laura Capps, a spokeswoman for the senator, said. The proposal, if passed into law, will aim to take effect in 2009 after the current minimum wage law expires.

No time frame was given for the legislation although an aide in another Senate Democrat's office confirmed there would be a push for another wage increase.

The recently-enacted law, The Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007, raised the federal minimum amount to $5.85 from $5.15 on Tuesday. That will increase to $6.55 next year and $7.25 in 2009 under the current law.

The $9.50 figure would be half of the expected average worker's wage as of 2011, according to a statement released by Sen. Kennedy's office."

(I had to throw in this pic of Sarah Silverman to keep my from getting angry. I love her. Its almost like the look on her face is sympathy for the working lower class citizens. Either that or shes just taken the best shit ever. I think its because she has her own show. SOmething from the pic tells me that.)

Now back to what I was saying: Did you know Congress gets an Annual pay raise EVERY year? Did you also know that their Health care plan is the best you will ever find in the United States.

I couldnt even afford Health Care if I wanted to, it would run me around $130 every two weeks, no including co-pays and all that other good shit.

I have to rely on medicaid for my son, for me..well I just hope Tylenol solves the problem.

From Readers Digest: The cost of Health Care in America

"Millions of other insured middle-class Americans aren't nearly so lucky. Between 2000 and 2003, seven in ten adults who were driven into debt by medical expenses had insurance at the time. In 2001, 42.5 million people in insured households paid 10% or more of the family's net income in medical expenses. They are America's underinsured, caught in a Catch-22: too well-off to qualify for government programs that support the poor, while not nearly affluent enough to pay their health bills without wrecking the family finances. And there's no rescue in sight, for the system is broken at every link along the chain -- from insurers who protect profits by raising premiums and restricting coverage; to doctors who can't keep up with the skyrocketing costs of malpractice insurance as well as the burdensome paperwork that some carriers require; to companies whose soaring medical costs force them to push more and more of the expense onto their employees."

At one time, I was in this category. I busted my ass and used to be a Sergeant at a State Jail. I would work no less than the 20 hours overtime a pay period. I couldnt afford the health insurace. I couldnt qualify for assistance. I finnaly had to make sure my overtime would cover the cost to have insurace. I sacrificed being at home during holidays, birthdays and saw my son maybe one day out the week when I was extremely exhausted.

"NEW YORK (AP) - The calculus of living paycheck to paycheck in America is getting harder. What used to last four days might last half that long now. Pay the gas bill, but skip breakfast. Eat less for lunch so the kids can have a healthy dinner.

Across the nation, Americans are increasingly unable to stretch their dollars to the next payday as they juggle higher rent, food and energy bills. It's starting to affect middle-income working families as well as the poor, and has reached the point of affecting day-to-day calculations of merchants like Wal-Mart Stores Inc., 7-Eleven Inc. and Family Dollar Stores Inc.

Food pantries, which distribute foodstuffs to the needy, are reporting severe shortages and reduced government funding at the very time that they are seeing a surge of new people seeking their help.

While economists debate whether the country is headed for a recession, some say the financial stress is already the worst since the last downturn at the start of this decade..."

(I think Charlie Day can understand my feelings! Fuck yeah I just wanna drink a beer with him and my girl!)

Well on a postive note:
Now that I am poor as hell, have to walk, and living paycheck to paycheck. I am happy because I have more time with my son. He sometimes gets upset because we have to walk..but we have one of the best relationships a mother and a son can have.

Ok now what I have to do to stay sane!
I appreciate the little things, I cried when I saw the final episode of sex & the City on TBS, not even on HBO, and I was so happy that Mr. Big went after Carrie in Paris. (was it paris? I cant remember)

I write run on sentences and dont care. I dont use spell check on purpose.

Oh yeah and I laugh about Amy Winehouse and all these other Exhausted performers:
Check this one out..this one I am gonna laugh about tonight.

Amy Winehouse Jailed in Marijuana Bust

Amy Winehouse Jailed in Marijuana Bust

"OSLO (Oct. 19) - Amy Winehouse was arrested and held overnight in Norway for possession of a small quantity of marijuana, police said on Friday.

The 24-year-old's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, and a third person were also arrested in their hotel room after police received a "credible tip" from an unnamed source.

The group had about seven grams of marijuana and was brought in for questioning on Thursday night. They were released on Friday morning after agreeing to pay a fine of about 500 euros each.

"This was a minor quantity of a light drug, so the size of the fine is normal," prosecutor Lars Morten Lothe at Hordaland police district told Reuters.

Reports that Winehouse has been suffering from an eating disorder, drug and alcohol abuse have dominated tabloid headlines over the last year. "

THe first live show my baby took me to see was them..and damn it was awesome. I knew I had to follow her in the crowd and get pushed everywich way if I planned on being with her. Rilo Kiley & Grand Ole Party @ Stubbs, October 7, 2007

RiloKiley live @ Stubbs 10-07-07.

Last night was the best Rilo Kiley Concert I have ever seen live. First of all me and my lady were in the very front...thats a first, since we are usually on the side by the speakers. Well there is nothing better than being in the front.
Well first up was Grand Ole Party. I was shocked to see the singer,Kristin Gundred was the drummer. That has to take a lot of coordination. They were awesome. Their show was about only 20 or 30 minutes long but good. They are worth checking out. I thought it was awesome that Kristin also helped play certain parts on Rilo Kileys show as well. I dont know about the rest of everyone else but I think my favorite songs were, well Give a little Love, I love the live version. Actually I loved ALL the songs!

Here are some pictures from the show: Let me warn you, these were taken with my camera phone, one day I will invest in a real camera, still gotta pay other bills first.

A little more on Grand Ole Party

This trio is from San Deigo California:
KRISTIN on mic & drums, John Paulon guitar, and Mike on bass. You have to listen to them to understand how awesome they are. Seeing them live is even ten thousands times better!

Taken from Music Download.com-Grand Ole Party

"They recorded their debut album, Humanimals, in March 2007 with Blake Sennet (Rilo Kiley, The Elected) over a five-day stretch of live recording, which perfectly captured the stripped-down power that embodies the Grand Ole Party sound. Humanimals will be released September 4 exclusively on iTunes with bonus track "Shot In The Alley," but the band will also be selling CDs at their upcoming shows opening for Rilo Kiley. Take a listen to the album's lead track, "Look Out Young Son," below and consider this your official invitation to the Grand Ole Party."
